Papeete Tahiti
Today the ship docked in Papeete Tahiti.
There was no tender required so we were able to get right off of the ship. From there we wandered over to the tourist center where we asked if there was any chance of getting bikes to ride to the beach. We also said it would be fun to rent a moped if there were no bikes. The people there called some places but there were no bikes at the bike rental place and you needed a special motorcycle license for the moped. They provided directions on how to get to a different bike rental place which didn’t work out because we misunderstood. We thought we would be paying $120 for the bikes when we would really only be paying $12. So we left there and headed to some stands selling souvenirs and pearl jewelry. We didn’t buy anything but we did ask around for the directions to the bus stop. Eventually we got some directions and hopped on the bus. The driver only spoke French but a lot of people on the bus worked together to translate. Eventually we discovered that it was five dollars. We took our seats and ate some cookies that we brought from the ship. We watched and sat and worried that we would miss our stop. At one point I got up and asked some people if we had missed our stop but they said no. Eventually, the buss stopped and one girl got on. Everyone who had been on the bus for more than 25 seconds told us in some way shape or form to get off. We quickly hopped off and started walking. 5 seconds later I heard a loud whistle and looked back. What seemed like 90 hands sticking out the window were pointing in the opposite direction then we were going. We headed that way and found a nice beach. There were almost no people there but we avoided the ones who were there because we didn’t want to get robbed, since we would have no way to get back on the ship (and a few other reasons obviously). We found a nice shady spot to put down our stuff and went into the water. There were lots of pretty fish and cool coral. We eventually saw an awesome sea turtle. It was beautiful. We followed it around and then lost it. We decided to head back to shore where we ate some bread and peanut butter and apples. We moved further down the beach and went back in. This time with my GoPro. That was a big deal because it was the first time I had used the GoPro underwater. We took some cool pictures and saw lots of neat things and kept checking that our stuff was still there. Finally, we decided to get out of the water.
It was a fantastic day.

The local market with many shops and stands
When we got to the end of the beach near the parking lot we saw my little friend Damir and his parents who were very hungry. We gave them some cookies. I changed into dry clothes and met my mom at the bus stop. Soon thereafter Damir and his parents showed up and waited with us. The bus didn’t come. Eventually my mom went to the little building by the beach and started talking to people to call the cab that Damir’s family had taken even though they said it was too expensive. While she was doing that a bus came. I ran over yelling to her that there was a bus and she came running. We all made it safely onto the bus and I sat next to Damir. We scribble on pictures of ourselves on Snapchat . When the bus got back we went aboard the ship, dried off, worked out, ate, got dressed a bit nicer, and went for a stroll through the town. My mom loved the graffiti which was very pretty. We then headed back near the ship where there were food trucks open. What was supposed to be a massive fleet of food trucks swarming with hungry people was just three trucks and a few people due to crazy (sideways) rain. We decided not to eat considering we were soaked and cold. We went back aboard and dried off yet again.Me and Damir
